Checking in once again!

Can't believe I'm posting so soon! It's only because we have had today off in honor of Martin Luther King Day. I'm looking forward to reading about him and discussing his accomplishments with my firsties tomorrow. I wanted to post over the weekend but for some reason the pictures from my phone hadn't uploaded to the "cloud". Fixed that. So here's a few snapshots from the room.

We've been studying various American symbols and creating a class PowerPoint Presentation. Maybe I can post it when we finish!

Both of these are adorable ideas our team borrowed from The First Grade Parade !

Then we made cloud books!

(This last pic is from an earlier lesson about the water cycle I wanted to share)

We also enjoyed some wintry poetry, creating penguins and cheering a classmate on at the annual "Pig Race"!

Fun times in the classroom for sure. All the more reason I love my job.

Pair that with the "Snow Day" we had Friday (although there was no snow, just tons of ice!) making this a 4 day weekend...pretty sure I'm loving my job right now hah! And coming soon...our 100th Day Celebration. I've been seeing some awesome ideas among bloggers :).

Well enjoy your evening teacher friends! And have a great week!

My 1st Sunday Scoop of the year :)

Happy Sunday guys!

Linking up with the Teachingtrio for the Sunday scoop :)

So here's mine
3.
That laundry has been clean and sitting in the laundry room for at least 3 days, probably longer. It just keeps falling to the bottom of the list. We are usually really good at meal planning but have been slipping lately and it shows every time we have the "What's for dinner?" discussion haha. So I've added my meal planning freebie at the bottom if ya want. I planned out my outfits a few times last semester and it really helped in the morning so I'm gonna try to get back on that!
2.
I try to assess sight words at least 3 times a year and I'm halfway done with my mid-year testing. I really want to finish by Monday (since we have extended days). And I'm trying to get ahead in my grad school classes by getting at least 2 assignments done this weekend.
1.
It's wayyy more fun to plan for the week in my colorful EC planner. I've really gotten into adding stickers and washi tape and stickers everywhere. I'm all about being organized!

Thanks for reading. Now head over to their blog so you can link up too! It's pretty easy!

And if you'd like here's a copy of the meal planning chart we use here at the house. I laminated it and you could add a magnet on the back and stick it to the fridge. Then you can use a dry -erase marker or a sharpie (erases with a magic eraser). Enjoy!

And just like that the year is almost gone!

I cannot believe it is already the end of December! I have been wanting to blog more but also wanting to maintain my sanity with school, grad school, a life etc..

But to update, the semester came to a nice close with a fun Polar Express Day! We have also been loving the assistance of our student teacher!

With my grad school classes I finished the semester with 2 A's :) and I have registered for my next set of classes. I will be finished next December! (Speaking it into existence!)

With my life in general things have been swell and I am THOROUGHLY enjoying this break! I've been blessed to have some family time and some lazy time. And we had a very Merry Christmas :)

But anyways..
As I prepare to look ahead and make some New Year's Resolutions I wanted to reflect back over some goals I set at the beginning of the school year.

I have been continuing my yoga but I haven't been going to classes as often as I'd like. I have a student data binder now but it still is not implemented as fully as it could be. The lesson plan goal has been accomplished (yay!). I haven't been able to attend any conferences yet but I'm still looking. Proudly, my student centered goal has shown some progress. My students are very self motivated and have been learning a lot! And that verse has been a pleasant reminder throughout the year.

Hmm.. some improvements but I still have a way to go. Good thing I'm a work in progress! Definitely some things to keep in mind as I move forward.

Well in appreciation for any readers out there here's a link to a flash freebie in my store until tomorrow. Please download my math game and let me know what you think!

What the whattt?! It's November?

Well it's a new month and that means a cute new "Currently" layout from Farley ! And since I'm randomly still up watching tv why not get in (somewhat) early right? So here goes..

listening
to good ol Family Guy. Our tv is almost always on cartoons or Football recently :)

loving
that the Halloween madness is done! I wasn't in much of a Halloween mood this year although I did dress up with my team. I would have been just fine sitting on the couch watching scary movies. We had a school trunk or treat, a class party...I'm ready to get back to business as usual!

thinking
about how quickly time is flying by. It is already November meaning only two months left in the year 2014. I can't believe it. It's been fun so far but I wonder what these last few weeks will hold.

wanting
some black boots that are comfy enough for work but I have no idea where to find any. Suggestions are welcomed!

needing
some good ol family time! I miss my parents and I'm so grateful that my dad is retired and home now. I can't wait to see them over the holidays!

reading
Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love. The person who gave me EPL also gave me Committed to read after. How sweet of them. Now let's see if I can make time to finish it because I'd love to read Gone Girl too!

Well now that you've caught up with me link up yourself! It's fun and pretty easy! Or at least leave a comment :) Have a great weekend!

My grad school hw has been driving me nuts. But my last on campus meeting is this week so there is a bright side! I can't believe its already time for picture day! And I definitely can't believe I'm getting my first student teacher this year1 I can still vividly remember when I was a student teacher

2
I've really been wanting to make some new products lately but I've been so busy. Luckily my awesome teacher friends have been making great products, a lot of them as freebies, so I've been racking up.  Now if only I could rack up on some shopping! I've been to busy working and being responsible (also known as paying bills lol). Maybe after this busy week ahead..?

1
Nothing better than Sunday football games on tv and some delicious pizza! We usually have pizza Fridays around here but ended up switching our schedule around and it's made for a perfect lazy Sunday afternoon.

Back to homework!...   :/

Hello October! :)

Currently!

Oh my goodness its September!! What the what?! Well I thought I'd link up with Farley  for her awesome "Currently" linky before it gets into the thousands haha! Such a fun concept and its cool to see so many teachers linking up. :)

Listening to the lovely cooking channel early this am. My boyfriend is such a foodie and this weekend he got some new spices. He's been talking about food constantly for the last 3 days at least!  (I asked him if he was pregnant hahaha)

Loving that today is Labor Day and that means no school! I thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in til 8:30 this morning. And this cup of coffee just tastes sweeter than usual. :)

Thinking about this homework I'm dreading. I've been putting of this statistics for the whole weekend but it's time to knock it out so I can stop worrying about it!

Wanting to go shopping but I figure that can be my reward if I get all this homework done. That's fair right?

Needing a few groceries for the week especially since I pack my lunch daily. Just not a fan of cafeteria food. Got any lunch favorites to suggest? I'm picky but always open to ideas. Spaghettios get old after a while haha

3 Trips (1) Orlando - We just got a great deal from HH to book a trip to Orlando. We've been thinking about going for Fall Break. (2) I've always wanted to go to the Bahamas and now a colleague is getting married there next summer so I may be making the trip! (3) New York has been on my list since I was young and obsessed with musicals. I'd love to go and shop and see a good show. Gotta keep feeding the piggy bank!

Two posts in one weekend! Probably won't happen again lol now off to this homework so I can do some shopping later
